Updates from Odyssey Coach Sales

Today we delivered this Irizar i6 bodied Scania K360 to Blackpool Coach Services on behalf of Hebridean Transport. Prior to collection it is under going a complete interior re-trim and exterior repaint before it starts it’s new life on the Isle of Lewis. The coach was supplied by Carver’s Coaches of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and is fully PSVAR compliant with a magic floor wheelchair lift. Once it arrives in Stornoway it will join one of it’s sisters and will be used on a variety of work including shore excursions for the numerous cruise ships that visit the Island where it’s wheelchair accessibility will be appreciated. Thanks to Ian Maciver and his team at Hebridean Transport for their business, and to Mark and the guys at Carver’s for ensuring that the coach was in A1 condition before I collected her.

As we’re approaching the end of the academic year sales are starting to pick up again. Our latest sale is of this 70 seat Scania K94 Irizar Intercentury from the Yelloway fleet to J.B. Tours (Watnall) Ltd. This sale has been a little protracted as the vehicle developed an electrical fault just prior to being collected but Mark Brook at Yelloway is always insistent that should his vehicles develop a fault prior to sale it is rectified before collection. This coach replaces an ex M.o.D Wadham Stringer bodied vehicle which has come to the end of it’s life and will be working hard carrying school groups around Nottinghamshire from September onwards. Pictured collecting the coach from Darren is Gary Payne joint proprietor of J.B. Tours and below is a copy of a text we received from him last night.

Hi Darren. Just want to thank you for everything you [...]

You may recall that earlier in the year we sold a MAN powered ADL Enviro 200 out of the now defunct Express Motors fleet to Go Goodwins of Eccles, Manchester. Well here she is in her new guise as a Little Gem operating tendered services on behalf of Transport for Greater Manchester. This livery will certainly bring back memories for Mancunians as Little Gem was the name given to the post deregulation minibus services of GM Buses using a mixture of Iveco, Dodge, and MCW Metrorider minibuses. Wes and his team have even added finer details such as 19xx series fleet numbers (GM Buses numbered it’s Dodge S56s in the 18xx and 19xx series), and adding EC depot codes for Eccles. Personally I think this looks fantastic and gives those of us brought up with orange buses an incling of what might have been, and if Mr Burnham gets [...]

A recent sale has been of this excellently presented Setra S415 GT-HD to Armstrong Travel of Haltwhistle on the Cumbria / Northumberland border. It is to be used on a contract transporting Scandanavians to RAF Spadeadam in Cumbria in conjunction with their work on testing Natural Gas and Oil supplies. The coach was supplied by Angel Travel from Oundle, Northants and has recently been re-trimmed in a very nice blue scheme consisting of half leather trimmed seats. Thanks to Oundle Travel for supplying the coach, and we wish Derek and his team at Armstrong Travel the best of luck with their new purchase.

A recent sale has seen this beautifully presented Setra S416 GT-HD go to new start operator N.B. Powell Ltd of Waterlooville in Hampshire. Nigel was looking for something to turn heads as his first coach and he has certainly found it. The coach was supplied by Chiltern Travel of Romford, Essex and consists of 49 Ambiente Seats with extra legroom, Air Conditioning, Centre Sunken WC, Boiler, and Fridge. It is finished in this stunning gold colour which is set off by Alloy Wheels. Nigel will be using it mainly on general private hire helping out other operators locally whilst he gets himself established. Hopefully a little bit of publicity from us will help this. We wish Nigel the best of luck in his new venture and look forward to welcoming back when he doubles his fleet size.

A recent sale to report is this immaculate Merceds Benz Vario Sitcar Beluga 3 from Express of Batley to Grayway Coaches in Wigan. Traditionally Grayway have leaned towards Plaxton Cheetahs for their smaller vehicles but needed something with a bit more bells and whistles and this little coach fits the bill perfectly. The Beluga 3 is fitted with 29 Vogel Reclining Seats with Leather Piping & Headrest Inserts, Air Conditioning, Fridge, Hot Drinks Facility, and an extremely large luggage capacity.  It was presented in the pristine condition we have come to expect from Sammy and Taz at Express. Seen collecting the coach from Darren is David Gray of Grayway Coaches. Thanks as always to Sammy and Taz for ensuring the coach was spotless prior to collection, and to Mick and Janet at Grayway for their continued support.

Following the purchase of a Volvo B9R Caetano Levante in September last year, Yogi Travel of Wenbley have returned to Odyssey Coach Sales for their next fleet addition. This time they wanted a vehicle to make a statement and be their shop window so have chosen this 2010 Setra S416 GT-HD from Travel Master in Trafford, Manchester. Originally a Shearings vehicle this Setra is fitted with 52 Nimbus Seats, Wood Effect Flooring, and Air Conditioning. It is powered by a Mercedes Benz Bluetec 5 engine driven through an 8 Speed Powershift Gearbox. It is hoped that this stunning coach will help Yogi Travel increase their profile and become a bigger player on the London Coach scene. Thanks to Hiren Patel, director of Yogi Transport for his continued business, to Zak and his team at Travel Master for preparing the coach for sale, and to Blair Michie and his team [...]

Yesterday we handed over this Volvo B12B Caetano Enigma to Dalma Express Ltd of Senangra in Zambia. Following an initial viewing at Skills Coaches in Nottingham, we set to work on getting the vehicle to the specification required for the customer. This included a full bottom half repaint, fitting of a second DVD monitor, and a full engine and gearbox service. Once completed the coach was delivered by Darren to Immingham Docks where it will set sail for Walvis Bay in Namibia. Seen with Darren prior to departing from Skills is Dr David Lubinda Mbundi, Dalma Express’s representative in the UK. Thanks to him and Dalma for their business, and to Nigel, Pete, Steve and the team at Skills for preparing the coach prior to collection.

We recently reported the sale of a Temsa HD12 Safari from Jones Executive Coaches in Walkden, Manchester to Tours Isle of Man. Well, today Simon Jones collected it’s replacement………………a Temsa HD12 Safari! This 2011 example has had two good homes being supplied by Yelloway Coaches Ltd just up the road in Chadderton, Oldham, and was new to Atkinson’s in North Yorkshire. In fact this is the second time I’ve sold this coach as I sold it to Yelloway two years ago. The attraction of the Temsa for both Yelloway and Jones is that it’s such a versatile vehicle being 12.2m with 53 seats and a toilet. It’s got the trusted DAF PR Engine driven through a ZF Automatic Gearbox, and it’s of stainless steel construction. It’s just a jack of all trades! Seen with Darren collecting the coach from Yelloways premises is Simon Jones, Managing Director of Jones Executive [...]

Today we had the pleasure of handing over this ex Nottingham City Transport Volvo Olympian to Barway Services Ltd of Ely, Cambs. Barway supply transport for the many fruit and veg pickers employed by GS Growers Ltd, one of the largest fruit and veg suppliers in the East of England. The requirement for a high capacity seat belted decker with decent ground clearance due to the rough terrain it will operate over was met by this East Lancs bodied Olympian from Skills Group. Lawton Motor Bodies repainted the bus out of Skills yellow into the blue livery of Barway Ltd. Darren is pictured here handing the bus over to Jaroslav Hamouz, Operations Manager of GS Growers Ltd / Barway Ltd prior to the journey over to Cambridgeshire.
